Crown Point and Store Bay, Tobago

Close to the airport, Crown Point and Store Bay beach are Tobago’s tourist hub…

Don’t Expect Solitude

The beach at Crown Point and Store Bay is pretty, safe… but crowded. There are sun loungers for hire, bars, food joints and plenty of parking.

You could even check into your flight early and walk the few hundred metres for a final swim and a cold beer.

The facilities at Store Bay are excellent, but don’t expect peace and quiet or the beach to yourself.

Crown Point and Store Bay

Only minutes from airport

There are bars and kiosks selling locally made goods. And from here you can get a boat to Nylon Pool, No Man’s Land and Buccoo Reef.

And not far away, again within walking distance, is Crown Point, the tourist hub of the island.

It too is only minutes from the airport and some of the most famous reefs and beaches including Pigeon Point are within striking distance.

Cheap Eats and a Casino

The main drag of Crown Point has noisy bars with locals and long term visitors enjoying the night life, the local Soca music and even karaoke.

Here are cheap eateries and even a casino where gamblers can lose a lot of money playing Rhum 32 – the Caribbean version of Vingt-et-Un or Blackjack.

For those less inclined to risk it all on the fall of a card, slot machines will be more than happy to take your cash.

Poker In The Rear?

The casino is behind The Jade Monkey, where the bar staff wear T-shirts emblazoned with “Poker In the Rear” (geddit?).

This bar is roughly the centre of town, but others compete noisily for your attention. The partying goes on late, so don’t expect a good night’s sleep if you’re staying in one of the many motels and guest houses near the main drag.

Crown Point is a lively place and one of the few on Tobago where you can get food, beer and a sexually transmittable disease late into the night.
